Starting this afternoon, we'll be bringing seven new servers on-line, one at a time, to give them a little sprint and ensure they're ready for load on our upcoming Day One.
We'd very much appreciate it if you all could pile into each new world server as it comes on-line, create characters, tear into the Sanctuaries and just generally stress the engines a bit.

The three regular servers, Emerald, Johari and Markov will be down during this cycling test. We'll put them back up after we're done.

The schedule for testing is:

1:30 Dalton (West)
1:45 Nyung (West)
2:00 Jackson (West)
2:15 Konried (East)
2:30 Jiminez (East)
2:45 Lumier (East)
3:00 Talbot (East)

I dunno, we should examine how many people we have East Coast vs West Coast. If the majority lie on the East Coast, then we should get a server there. If the majority on the West Coast, get a server there. The pings for the Central people should still be about the same.

Well that's crap for sony to do that. A couple of servers centrally located would solve a lot of problems for large groups such as ourselves. :(

When they brought up the east servers I would check my pings to them before I got on...they were at best 20-40 ms less then my ping to the west coast, not a huge amount at all.

Does anyone know where the East servers are located? It's possible they might be in St. Louis with the Dev team, and while I'd hardly call that east, it is more east then San Diego :)

If pings aren't worse than they were during the beta, it won't matter much to me. It's a question of choosing between a medium of 250 (W) or 200 (E), thus no big deal to me, they're equally playable, you just have to choose your role carefully.

Hmmm. Does that mean that we might not be able to sign up on the same server? I mean, will there be a population cap on each server? Say that 6000 people sign up on Markov, including most of ATF, then a month later someone from ATF wants to join in, but he can't because the server is full. Do you think this will happen?

remember, that's 6000 people at once there will at least be double or triple that registered on the servers because not everyone plays at the same time, which is also why the first couple of days of the game are going to be hell, as everyone will be playing at once
so no there will probably be no problems for people who want to join later, as the registered user limit is probably very very high or limitless, as most people will have alts of other empires on all servers

Exactly, I don't think it will be by number signed up but by number online. They'll be watching the numbers really closley the first few days, I don't think it will be that much of a problem.

It would be nice to know where the east servers are located. East could mean texas for all we know. And how the hell are you guys testing the ping?

You can see ping in the server selection screen when you connect. Just a matter of making note of it while you are there :)
