View Full Version : ATF Fantasy Football
Stoke 06-12-2006, 10:04 AM I'd like to set up an ATF FF league on Yahoo sports. How many people here would be interested in participating?
Two ways to go with it and it sort of depends on how many want to play as to which way to go:
Option 1:
A Standard Points league is based on the goal of achieving the highest score within your league. Set a weekly lineup based on league requirements and hope your players collect more fantasy points then anyone else's players. Points are tallied throughout the football season, and the team with the highest total at the end of the year wins the league championship.
Option 2:
A Standard Head-to-Head league lets you square off weekly against another manager in your league. Your opponent each week is determined by the league schedule, which is automatically generated in all leagues and may not be modified. Teams with the best win/loss records, may compete in playoffs after the regular season. Scoring settings include points for passing, rushing and receiving, and kick/punt return yardage.
We can also do a "live draft" which would be pretty hard to pull off or we could do an autopick style where players are picked from a managers pre-set list of players.
I know its early...but need to start thinking about it. Who wants in?
SilverTalon 06-12-2006, 10:19 AM I suppose I could go in for such a thing, even if I've never played Fantasy Football before and will end up dead last I'm sure.
CannonBall 06-12-2006, 10:37 AM My mama,my mama.... my mama won't let me play no foosball... :D
Stoke 06-14-2006, 04:55 AM So far this isnt lookign promising..... maybe as it gets nearer time for the season to start.
Banne 06-14-2006, 05:44 AM Im in, I say we put gold on it :P 25g entry fee, hehe, winner take all, I think thatd be awesome. I figure Bele would prolly do this too, so there is 2 more for you.
Belenos 06-14-2006, 06:04 AM Yes.
MagnoliaFly 06-14-2006, 06:05 AM I'd do it but I know almost nothing about football. I'd do it anyway I think though.
Nizuttz 06-14-2006, 06:07 AM I would do it, but I dont really follow anyone except the bucs so I would not be able to put together a good team.. so I am out.
And no I am not doing any research on the NFL players so that I might put together a better team.
Belenos 06-14-2006, 06:08 AM Its no problem. You just pick whoever you like as a player and then try to pick who is going to do awesome that week, then you sit back and bitch when they suck.
PS I call dibs on P. Manning... Banne, you can have Eli.
Nizuttz 06-14-2006, 06:10 AM yeah but I dont like anyone as a player and I would not know who is going to do awesome because I don't care to watch them, unless its the bucs.
SilverTalon 06-14-2006, 06:25 AM Just go to an NFL news site, look for names in headlines...fill in the other slots with people from the bucs. Ta-da! ;)
I'm not that great with fantasy football, but I've never seriously tried either.
Stoke 06-14-2006, 06:43 AM The internet and the Wal_mart magazine rack will soon be full of "lists" of the best players at each position.... Its not rocket science.
Nizuttz 06-14-2006, 07:35 AM its more research than I wanna do cause I am a lazy lazy man. Like the Dude from Big Lebowski.
Ardamir 06-14-2006, 07:36 AM Ill join.
Banne 06-15-2006, 05:31 AM Ardamir will feature a weekly, "All Texas Alumni Team" ...Which means he will lose cause they are teh suck. And bele, you can have Peyton...Eli is gonna muddafukkin own this year (and so is Ben Rothlesberger who will have enough time on his hands to study every tape from every player in the NFL before the season starts). Sorry that was a cheap shot at all the steelers fans out there, but if your quarterback is that dumb to ride a motorcycle without a helmet, then well....eat me. And Niz, just pick goofy looking names, like Avieon Caeson, Timbawalyala Biakabatuka, Natron Means, and Dan Marino. I hate Dan Marino. Okay, im done. Join the league. $10 says Ardamir wins though. Hes a bigger sports nerd than me.
Stoke 06-15-2006, 05:45 AM No Ardy just gets the Texans...the whole Houston Texans team.
And it is TSHIMANGA BIAKABUTUKA and Aveion Cason. L2Spell Noob.....
This might turn out to be fun...
Nizuttz 06-15-2006, 05:46 AM BIAKABUTUKA.. I remember that guy... his name brings me joy.
Ardamir 06-15-2006, 07:31 AM A team made up of all players from Texas you say? That would be unfair to the rest of you.
SilverTalon 06-15-2006, 07:32 AM Yeah...I mean...he'd have that powerhouse of Ricky Williams.... ;)
Is he really playing football for the CFL now? If so...think it has anything to do with the fact that weed is legal in cananananananada? :worry:
Ardamir 06-15-2006, 07:35 AM Dare I mention Vince Young? I do dare! Vince Young!
SilverTalon 06-15-2006, 07:38 AM In two years or so, that'll be a good pick.
Right now? Not so much. Pro is a different world from college, and there's going to be an adjustment period, especially with a position like quarterback.
Ardamir 06-15-2006, 07:39 AM Ill try and tell Vince that while he is running past your defense.
SilverTalon 06-15-2006, 07:45 AM Assuming he doesn't pull a Vick and injure himself in preseason...the guys at the pro level are a LOT bigger and hit a lot harder. ;)
Ardamir 06-15-2006, 08:03 AM Vince Young is also alot bigger and faster than Vick. This is a pointless, even if I am wrong Im still going to argue with you.
Banne 06-15-2006, 06:54 PM vince young sucks...And I should have been able to spell Cason's name, he went to my school. Ohh well, I just made up Biakabatukas first name, I think its funnier that way. Ohh, and again vince young sucks. *I know he'll be good in a few years, but I hope not*
Danerune 06-15-2006, 10:17 PM I'll do it.
Ardamir 06-16-2006, 02:08 PM You know you would like him if he played for Chicago (which got Cedric Benson, another product of the powerhouse known as U of Texas football).
Speaking of Ricky Williams, isnt he playing in Toronto? Maybe he and Splidz have met...
Spinning Hat 06-21-2006, 12:57 AM I suppose I'll do it. I like football enough to actually do some research, but not get crazy. ;)
