If this is correct then its the Draenei as they appear in their otherworldly realm of Outland. The Draenei (or Lost Ones) that appear in the current game in the Blasted Lands and Swamp of Sorrows are apparently corrupted or fallen versions of the race.

Well it sounds logical that we get a "ugly" race, because the horde get a "good looking" race. I do like the size, if they are in fact as big as a tauren.

Turns out the new alliance race is the Eredar...which is alot better than the Draenai. They were demons in Archimonds army when assaulting the world tree but the wisp apparntly took control of their minds...this is AWESOME!

There was talk that the new race had to be able to be Paladins and Hunters to balance out the race/class selections. Horde can have Troll, Orc and Tauren Shamans while the Alliance can only have Dwarf and Human Paladins. In addition, those same Horde races can be hunters, while only the Night Elves and Dwarfs can be hunters for the Alliance.

Some credence to that rumor was gained when it was posted by Eyonix that Blood Elves are currently not slated to be allowed to be hunters, which they initially were reported as being able to be.

That'd be because the new Alliance race aren't Draeni, they're Eredar...the Draeni, for lack of a better term, devolved (I believe as a result of some form of demonic corruption) from the Eredar and ended up the broken forms you see today.

Evolution or De-evolution.....

I am totally amazed at the chatter on the WoW General forums. People are totally crying about the new Alliance race "looking so much better than the Blood Elves" and how "Once again, Blizzard favors the Alliance over the Horde".

The same people that were whining about the blood elves - "we dont want BE's cause now all the little kids will want to roll them and over populate our servers" are now saying "the Draenei look so much better, everyone will want to roll one of those and cause the population to be even more imbalanced".....

People on the forums are idiots. The longer I get to look at them, the more I think I'll probably have one of them...pending what classes are available to them.

I wont be rolling a pally thats for fucking sure. I hope they can be mages.. that would be pretty fuckin sweet.

I checked out some screenshots. I don't know if they have the gear on just because it looks cool but you can see Tier 2 Hunter gear, Tier 2 Paladin gear, Tier 2 Priest gear. I guess they have warriors also, would be interesting to see if they have warlocks, personally I don't think so.

Well, logically I'd expect that they could be Warriors, Paladins, Priests, Hunters, and Mages.

Again, class to race combinations *should* be about even, this way there's less complaining between Horde and Alliance. This chart will include the Blood Elf info from April 24th that Eyonix posted (Goblin Workshop Link (http://www.goblinworkshop.com/blizzard-posts/8201.html)) but not the Dranei. So if you look at the number of races that can be each class you find the following:

Warrior - Horde: 5, Alliance: 4
All races can be warriors.

Rogue - Horde: 4, Alliance: 4
Orc, Troll, Undead, Blood Elf vs. Dwarf, Human, Night Elf, Gnome..

Mage - Horde 3, Alliance: 2
Troll, Undead, Blood Elf vs. Gnome, Human

Warlocks - Horde: 3, Alliance: 2
Orc, Undead, Blood Elf vs. Gnome, Human

Hunters - Horde: 3, Alliance: 2
Orc, Troll, Tauren vs. Dwarf, Night Elf

Druids - Horde: 1, Alliance: 1
Night Elf vs. Tauren

Shaman/Pally - Horde: 3, Alliance: 2
Tauren, Troll, Orc vs. Dwarf, Human

Priest - Horde: 3, Alliance 3
Troll, Undead, Blood Elf vs. Night Elf, Human, Dwarf

So looking at that, it suggests 4 of the classes right off...Paladin, Warrior, Hunter and Mage. So how do priests fit in? That one is already even! Well, if you notice, Warlocks are currently unbalanced in numbers, but lore-wise it wouldn't really make sense for a race that rejected the Burning Legion and is fleeing from it to try and harness demonic power. Their affiliation with the Light would make priests a logical choice for a class. This would mean that each faction would have a class that they get one more of than the other.

Now, the Horde will whine about the Alliance getting a useful specialist healer class and they get a warlock which is a hybrid class but meh...it maps out pretty well. That gives each race about 5 class options to be, which seems to be what Blizzard is shooting for overall.

IIRC, Blizzard has squashed that rumor. Said that they were just now beginning to tune the current class mechanics and didn't want to monkey it all up by introducing new ones that they'd have to balance with everything else (because, they did SUCH a good job keeping the shamans balanced).

Also, that'd be something mentioned in their "cool reasons to buy the expansion" materials...certainly more than "flying mounts" or "jewel crafting" so that's another indication that they aren't.

They could be saving it for a "surprise" to drive up hype immediately before the beta begins, but I doubt it.

And Cannon, I've been flipping through WoW Guru and more than a few places have said no new classes, hero or otherwise. They all say that Blizzard is going to "try" to include Hero classes, but due to their concerns about "ruining the game" if they're not done right, I wouldn't hold your breath.

We were supposed to have them a bit after release...so, yeah...
