I was having problems with addons last night. I'd get into the game and it'd just lock up. I went to take a nap and worked on it after the rush on the login server had died down. Seemed stupid to try and troubleshoot something that required the game's shutdown when it took 3-4 minutes to get to the character list.

I tried everything to no avail. I took out the uniloader.exe file remembering that it had given a few people trouble in the past, I disabled one addon Gryph said was a problem, I disabled ALL addons, I tried other servers - same result: Constant disconnects. Never was on longer than 2-3 minutes at a time.

I tried this morning before coming to work and was on for 20 minutes with no d/c.... So hopefully all will be well tonite.....

Eh, my work machine is having the same issues with lockups. :(

I'm down to a handful of Cosmos addons and still getting the problem. Which did Gryph say was broken?

Blurb on the Cosmos site for those who havent looked there....

-----------
There are a couple of issues with Cosmos and 1.10.1, primarily the single click loot/cast TackleBox does not work, it is preventing you from talking to NPC's and such. We have gone back to a double click system for now, this is available in the latest Alpha.

Also, after patches there seems to be some initial hanging of the game upon login. There is a work around for this, disable Libram, login to the game, open your quest log and click on each quest title, then you can re-enable Libram. We are still looking into this odd quirk.

Other than that, Cosmos should be working well.

You blurb updater.... :)

A lot of debate is going on regarding the disconnect issue. Apparently it was affecting a lot of people across all the servers. No real clear answer so far that I've found. SOme are saying the WTF and WDB folders are to blame and deleting them solves the problem. Others say no it doesnt.

Some say there is an issue with there being old data packets on server that are not getting flushed and the server is getting confused while trying to verify the new data packets and times out....

Who knows.

Ya, I doubt deleting those is going to do anything at all. My best guess says it isn't addon or cache related, it is some networking problem on Blizzards end that clients are not going to be able to do anything about. Stang and I haven't wiped our wtf/wdb or disabled addons since beta and aren't getting disconnected, if it were anything on the users end it would affect everyone.

Right.. there may be some sort of new change that Blizz has done to their servers causing uber packet loss that your ISP flags as an unacceptable % of the traffic flow and then resets your connection.

Some blue responses in the technical support forum

I'm interested in looking up this issue since one of my guildmates had the problem last night but no others did. Since it is within the first few minutes of login, an incompatible UI or a corrupted file may cause you to disconnect. First, try to remove all of your UIs and old item/character history by doing this: go to your World of Warcraft folder and rename the following by adding a 1 - WDB, WTF, Interface. Try the game again afterwards to see if you get disconnected.
-------------------------------------------------------

Trying to look at the issues and trying to see if it's a character's location in a possible bugged area or if it is on any characters on the account.
--------------------------------------------------------

Unknown entities and disconnections from a single server aren't the unrelated to this problem. The one I'm collecting info on happens to a specific account on any character, and it will disconnect them regardless of what server they are on.

Unknown entities:
First, delete the WDB folder. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try turning off a network card option called Checksum Offload (or Hardware Checksumming).

Disconnecting from a single server:
See if you can post a new thread. Tell us your network equipment, network card and router and maybe we can look at it and figure it out.

Fate was getting disconnected alot as well but she kept trying to get on over and over. I don't know how she could stand it if I was getting disconnected that much I'd been gone. But she did stop after a bit to go make some cookies :). How did they turn out and when do I get some? :D

They claimed they "tweaked" soemthing around 1am their time..... funny how a "small tweak" as they put it solved a huge problem for a very large number of people......

Deep in the bowels of the Blizzard Development Necropolis:

Dev 1: Man, those people are really complaining about being disconnected...
Dev 2: That's strange, none of our shamans are having problems staying on.
Dev 1: Yeah, I know...but for some reason, there's people not on shamans...I think we should take a look at the code we put into 1.10.1.
Dev 2: Ok...hold on, I was soloing Ragnaros with my shaman again. He got me to like half health, so we should work on shaman buffs after this.
Dev 1: Yeah, we released a patch without buffing them at all with 1.10.1...I think they deserve major buffs now for being so patient.
Dev 2: Oh, here's the problem..."DisconnectPlayerAfter5Minutes = True"...how'd that get in there? *click* Oh well, fixed now...
Dev 1: Now that we're done with that small tweak, let's go buff shamans!
Dev 2: Hoo-ray!
