see thats why i upgraded my ram from .5 to 2.5 gig and savig up to put 2 more gig of ram in my computer sincei put it in i have had an extreme improvement with the game.

Dude, there is a point at which the game is completely optomized and I think you have already passed it with 2.5GB of RAM. I don't think your going to notice much more of a difference by adding 2GB more.

DarkIce

well i havent decided to do that but maybe ur right.

The Niz speaks the truth. In terms of XP Professional, the "sweet spot" where the performance gain of adding RAM is at it's best ratio to the added overhead is actually around 1GB.

Now, that's not to say more RAM past that is bad, but it's really only going to help when you're running multiple apps. That will let the computer store more in RAM so you can switch back and forth faster.

Single-app performance though...yeah, you've got all you're going to get. Yes, more RAM = faster...but after a certain point it starts to slow the computer down as that's more RAM that has to have stuff assigned to it.

That or you could convert your computer over to a completely NVRAM system but that would cost an ass done of money as you would probably need 300GB of NVRAM to store all your stuff permanently in RAM.

SilverTalon

To say nothing of taking up the better part of a desk with that much NVRAM...

If you had a system like that you would drive the geek world MAD!!!

I don't see the correlation of having more RAM = having more common sense.

Nizuttz
04-10-2006, 12:14 PM
first off its NVRAM.. and with that much you dont need common sense... GOSH!!!!

I meant with what Gryphon first posted. Why did we start discussing RAM - can we say thread hijack?
