View Full Version : Good monitor?? Jadal 11-07-2005, 10:36 AM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116355 or is there something better? thanks Gryphon 11-07-2005, 10:53 AM I have the Viewsonic vp912b (http://www.viewsonic.com/support/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/proseries/vp912b/) and absolutely love it. That one looks pretty nice Jadal, though the cabinet is kind of ugly :D That has a nice response time, mine is 12ms and I have no problems with ghosting. CannonBall 11-07-2005, 11:39 AM Who are you again? Where the HELL you been? you don't lub me anymore???? Spinning Hat 11-07-2005, 11:42 AM I'd buy that monitor, if I hadn't already boiught my 17" Zenith... Cptmorgan 11-07-2005, 12:56 PM I have a 19" LCD that came with my dell. I kinda regret not going with the bigger one for the sole purpose of getting 1600x1200 resolution. My wow ui can get a bit crowded for my liking. Jadal 11-07-2005, 01:25 PM yea this is my first LCD so I'm wiggin over it just a bit :) I have my doubts about the 3ms/6ms, seems a bit exaggerated when most of the LCDs are over 10ms. I was looking for one with an 8ms when I found this one. The only other thing is the resolution. some ppl really like 1600x1200. Ive tried my monitor as high as 1280x(whatever) and for me it seems about as big as I can go before my eyes start bleeding uncontrollably (at 1280 I have to put my glasses on, if you can help it dont get old :hmm: ). I've picked out the rest: ABIT AN8-ULTRA Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Mobo ASUS Geforce 7800GT 256MB CORSAIR XMS 2GB (4 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 SONY 16X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW (time to copy movies :)) +odds and ends This one is a bit more expensive than the one I built for WoW (1k vs 1.6k) but I'm hoping the xtra cash helps with all the little gaming extras which is something I didnt take into consideration on my last build. Thanks for the input guys. edit: muzo drove the price up to 1.8k uh yea thanks "friend"?! Cptmorgan 11-07-2005, 03:16 PM u gotta remeber that a 19" LCD has about the same screen size as a 20-21" CRT. So that 1280 is gonna be a littl easier to see. I am pissed because i know my computer can handle 1600x1200, but my monitor just dosent handle it. Only saying that becuase i wish someone would have talked me into it back then. Cptmorgan 11-07-2005, 03:18 PM Also, that a pretty sic setup u got there, what kinda of hard drive are you going with? is SATA2 out yet? Defenetly go with at least one 10,000rpm drive, should help with load times. Or do a raid 0 with 7,800 drives. Jadal 11-07-2005, 04:04 PM went with a western digital 80g 7200 , think it had 8m cache Cass 11-07-2005, 10:23 PM I have been thinking of a new monitor, do they do anything diffrent/better than CRT? Dont know if its worth extra money for something smaller. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 04:24 AM Cass, They are more expensive but worth it. No eye problems, it's always nice and bright (good for certain games who are really dark) They are smaller, so it takes less space. Everything is sharp as hell. It's a good investment! Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 05:52 AM Its a decent monitor, but I always recommend the Apple monitors. They have a much better display ratio and it truely makes a difference. Now before I get slammed with Anti-Mac shit let me just say that Macs suck my left nut... but Apple did make the iPod and their Monitors bad ass. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 06:08 AM I've always been a big fan of Ilyama, they make great products. Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 06:15 AM who the hell are they? RocketMad 11-08-2005, 06:54 AM Only one of the best brands in the world! http://www.iiyama.com/ It's the No. 1 brand here and in Japan, they cost alot but you get A+ Quality Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 07:04 AM Oh your in Japan. They must not export that shit here cause I have never heard of them. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 07:12 AM Only one of the best brands in the world! http://www.iiyama.com/ It's the No. 1 brand here and in Japan, they cost alot but you get A+ Quality Notice the "here AND in Japan" Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 07:15 AM Are they new? I mean why, if a company makes great shit hasn't this brand become big like Sony and Samsung? RocketMad 11-08-2005, 07:36 AM nope they aren't new, strange why this brand isn't known in the US Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 07:38 AM It must be because they dont put themselves in stores like Compusa and Bestbuy. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 07:40 AM They exist for like 10 years now Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 07:43 AM yeah but no one I know of has ever heard of them. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 07:45 AM do you know people? Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 07:53 AM lol, yes, and none of them have heard of it. RocketMad 11-08-2005, 07:55 AM well it's strange, anyway it's a very good brand. Cptmorgan 11-08-2005, 09:43 AM lol, yes, and none of them have heard of it. omgn00b  Gryphon 11-08-2005, 10:55 AM Ive never heard of iiyama :o RocketMad 11-08-2005, 11:38 AM Thats because you live in a cave Gryph Gryphon 11-08-2005, 11:56 AM Need to get this monitor http://www.thzclan.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3116 Nizuttz 11-08-2005, 01:46 PM Wrong.. neither has Morgans he is just being an ass.
