Unsure if this is going to be live action like the Transformers movie.
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" is coming to the big screen.

The story being developed will be based on the series about five maverick explorer-pilots who must travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron, a giant mechanical warrior formed by five smaller robots. The gargantuan robot is the last hope against the evil Drule Empire that has subjugated Earth and taken control of the universe

Ya but it isn't the real one. The one I have takes like 20 cars that combine into a large robot.

Wow, now that is surprising. I guess they should cast me as the pilot of the Black Lion because my brother named me after the cartoon character.

I have that one and the lion one....well, I should say my parents have it at their house along with 5 tons of other toys from my childhood.

I keep trying to explain to them that when my generation starts to get old, they'll be worth thousands...

Was the one you have gryph where they were in space on the ship? They would all fly out and form up to make a mech?

I still liked all star blazers the best :( Gryph never saw that I don't think.

I dont remember seeing a cartoon with the one I have, I think I got it as a bday present or something, I always like the lion Voltron best. Ya I don't recall star blazers much, though the flying battleship and the characters look familiar, I may have seen it though not known the name well.

Star blazers was the nerdiest thing i was ever into, i bought the models and built them did all the decals and painted them...

The one I was askin gryph about i can't remember what it was called but thought it was a spin off of voltron. No way i could remember unless i saw it again. Drank a bit too much over the years.

I believe the Voltron with the 5 lions would fly up from the ground and form in outer space often to fight Haggar.

Ya I took a look at some sights and found In the American version, the 15 member Voltron Force are part of a crew from the Galaxy Alliance who ride through space on the Stellar Ship Explorer; their mission, to find an inhabitable world for the overpopulated people on Earth to settle. The 15 person force is divided into three teams of 5 people - Land, Sea and Air - and as one might guess, they specialize in gathering samples and analyzing the elements in their area of expertise so that they can determine which worlds may suit their needs. Of course, when needed, the 15 units each team member pilots can combine into mighty Voltron.

^^^ lol

Ok I'm thinkin about one where there were people in robots that could also switch into planes. Pretty sure it was before Mechwarrior but the same kind of idea. And there was only like one "carrier" left and they were always fighting these huge outnumbered battles.

Sound familiar to anyone? (Anime too)
