View Full Version : Got any Bike riders in here?
Spinning Hat 04-18-2005, 08:23 AM I just bought a 1979 Suzuki GS 750 yesterday, and it's a pretty good bike. Rode it about 100 miles or so, and everything was good here's a pic, and I'll have more outdoor pics later.. I took this one last night after I spent 2 hours cleaning and waxing it, because it sat for 2 years with no TLC till yesterday...
Gryphon 04-18-2005, 08:44 AM Nice...you could have bought mine :D
Spinning Hat 04-18-2005, 09:33 AM What'cha got? I wouldn't want to pay the shipping on it tho... I've got a couple more pics I just took in better light..
Gryphon 04-18-2005, 10:46 AM Yamaha 650 Special, I believe a '78 if I recall correctly.
Ardamir 04-18-2005, 12:29 PM I got a 1992 Huffy Mountain Bike....you didnt say anything about it requiring a motor! Congratualtions on your new bike! May you ride fast and far.
Spinning Hat 04-18-2005, 04:10 PM Pedal bikes are teh suck! hehe j/k. I've wanted one for a LONG time, and I finally decided to pull the trigger, and this was the best bike for the money.
Gryph - You still ride an a regular basis? That's a good looking bike for a '78, fo sho. I just wish mine was a 6 speed instead of a 5, I'd get better than 40mpg then, since I only have a 3 gallon tank or so, so the distance per stop isn't that great, but I'm gonna test the range on it soon enough, got a couple long rides planned this summer, plus commuting with it on a daily basis.
Stang 04-18-2005, 04:21 PM He hasnt rode that bike in over 2 yrs or more its in the garage collecting dust til this spring more when I put it up for sale :D. Maybe down the road he can get another. If he communted everyday on his bike Id be calling him non stop as I don't trust the drivers here :).
Nice lookin bike have fun :D
Gryphon 04-18-2005, 04:46 PM I got it a few years ago from my Dad, I haven't ever got my endorsement. It rides a little high for me, I would like the seat to be lower to the ground like yours. This one my legs are straight when at a stop, a little uncomfortable and feels tippy. Traffic is a bit crazy around here to be riding something I'm not comfortable with, especially riding to work for 20 miles, I rode it to work a lot when I was only 5 minutes away.
Jadal 04-18-2005, 05:03 PM nice, i gotta 1976 Honda Goldwing 1100 (or 1000, forget)
got some pics somewhere, try to post later... found some. my throttle cable broke over the weekend. When i get it back i'll take new photos. put the ferring <sp> on and painted most of the bike a new color.
I have a car but the bike is my main. Steve an I try to get out on the weekend and get in 60-80 miles. going to head down to panama city here real soon for beer, crab legs, and lap dances WOOHOOO
edit btw: thats my buddy steve and his Harley
Verra 04-18-2005, 11:26 PM *sigh* *kicks the floor* *pouts*
Vicious won't allow me to have a bike, even if we could afford it. He says they are too dangerous for me.
Garich 04-18-2005, 11:40 PM Heres a Harley (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004SCIR/qid=1113892727/br=1-4/ref=br_lf_t_4//002-0581186-8618445?v=glance&s=toys&n=569558) that I doubt he'll have any issues with.
:awww:
Spinning Hat 04-19-2005, 06:09 AM ROFL @ Garich!
I love riding this bike. It's so strong mechanically, and sounds great. I put a pic of my bike on my desktop at work, and guys were looking at it, and couldn't tell it was a '79, so that's great. I'm lovin it right now, and goin to take the endorsement test on Fri.. Now I need all you left coasters to stop sending all this damn rain so I can ride damnit!
Jaydal, where's the emblems, etc? New paint and didn't have them on yet or what? The bike looks to be in really good shape, how's she run?
Remisk 04-19-2005, 06:39 AM I have a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R.
Stang 04-19-2005, 04:14 PM I got gryphon his own harley he can take it into his office without any problems :D.
Gryphon's mom doesn't like the idea of her kids having bikes either we hear the same thing about how dangerous they are for her kids :).
Spinning Hat 04-23-2005, 03:07 PM Well, I took my endorsement test yesterday, and all the examiner said to me was "perfect". So I guess I did oK. :D Gryph, my seat looks low, but it's actually quite high. Having a higher center of gravity is nice because your slow speed control is much better, and you can turn sharper at slower speeds. Maybe your tire pressure is too high? Either way, it's a good looking bike.
Jadal 05-01-2005, 09:48 AM Put the new throttle cable on and finished the paint. What do you think?
Gryphon 05-01-2005, 12:43 PM Nice :D
Stang 05-02-2005, 04:16 PM Sweet :D
You know you can just use the latch that comes on the gate to open it you don't need a ladder to go thru .
Jadal 05-02-2005, 11:48 PM Makes me feel like I'm storming the castle to save a damsle in distress! Could it be you?
SilverTalon 05-03-2005, 06:09 AM Makes me feel like I'm storming the castle to save a damsle in distress! Could it be you?
No...it's just Gryph in a prom dress with patent leather pumps. He does that from time to time you know...and then complains about how Stang never takes him anywhere that he has a chance to get all dressed up like that. :)
Of course, some people might find that prospect even hawter. :D
Oh yeah, kewl bike. ;)
Jadal 05-03-2005, 10:23 AM mmmmmmmmmm yummy :barf:
Stang 05-03-2005, 04:17 PM Ya next time you come over and take him out I just can't do it anymore. And no its not cuz he gets most of the attetion when we do go out :).
Calimitous Mayhem 05-03-2005, 07:01 PM Somone sounds jealous!
feratson 05-04-2005, 04:45 AM If any of you guys would like to purchase a bike please let me know I have a good assortment of sport bikes and race bikes that are for sale. Now they don't have that 76 goldwing appeal but they will do 90mph in first gear and not leave you stranded on the side of the road lol!!!!! I have been making a site that has a shopping cart showing off the bikes. It is still in its construction phase but I got pictures of some of our bikes on it. If any of you riders are around Tampa send me an e-mail and hopefully I will be able to slap a license plate on one of the bikes and we can have an ATF ride.
