Calimitous and I have been looking at what classes would compliment eachother in pvp play. He has been looking up the pally and I have been looking at either rogue or mage (thinking rogue more as I loved my infil in daoc) and wanted to know what you all might have to say as to whether or not they would compliment one another well or might run into unforseen problems or issues.

Any other class combo ideas would be appriciated also and or what builds would work for the above combo and any added ones. Cali was thinking of heavy prot build for pally while i was looking into bs/dagger build of 30/8/13 for rogue thus far.

Thanks in advance for commentary.

best combo imo is priest/rogue for pvp, pve..it works too. i have no real clue on any class besides priest, so yea...only thing i can add is just play a round and find what you like.

I was looking at wowrankings, and our guild is like 3rd or so in the number of mages we have. :o Although, it is a relatively small number of our overall membership. We're like top 2 or 3 in most any category when compared to other alliance guilds, and top 30 when compared to all. :D

I really like ym mage, but it is pretty hard going in the beginning, especially solo, but combine that with a paladin, and you're an unstoppable combo, especially if the pally can tank well, and still rez yer sorry ass when you get hosed as a caster, which happens to me ALL the time. :D

um ideally you both want to play characters that can res....

pally/druid/priest

A warlock also can binds someones soul with the soulstone and let them reincarante which is nice.

The mage isn't a bad choice either for the polymorph ability. I agree with the saying play what you want though.

You will do well with any combination, if you are planning on being a duo for most of the time. Many of the quests you do as a duo will be possible to do by yourself, which means that as a duo you will have no troubles.

That said, here is what we NEED in ATF: warriors & priests. You will also be much wanted in instances, which is nice.

I'm still not conviced that a pally can't take 99% or just as well as a warrior.... they take a little bit more damage since they don't have the defensive stance and such... but pallys can still generate lots of threat and take lots of damage.

Thanks for the advice. I started a rogue on his account and am already in love lol. I like the thought someone must have of seeing the "lone pally" and thinking "hey im gonna get him good hehe" , follow by the "oh S--T! How did i die, i had half life almost" then they see me /smilein at the poor guy.

Can't get over thinking about that hehe so I also liked that thought pattern.

As for the priest I do kinda like the build possibilities, however, here in Iraq both calimitous and I are on not too great a connection and latency is horrid. Thus our heals (he tested a priest, lag heals suxxor when target is dead by the time it gets to target) are not well timed. And I tried out healers on DAOC with one big problem hehe, I seem to keep getting wrapped up in the fight and not watching health....thus a poor priest.

All in all ill prolly roll a mage toon also just to see how we like the combo of either and go from there. Just thought i would see what exp'ed players thought.

Pallys are superior to warriors till around 40-50 when the paladin's DPS starts to fall off in comparison to the Warrior's (I believe warriors get more strength per level than paladins). Also, I'm hearing many complaints from people going into higher level instances that a paladin simply cannot hold aggro well enough and that a kitted out *tank* is needed more than a paladin for that aspect. Sure, they can sometimes hold it, but when you're dealing with high-level elites, sometimes really doesn't cut it.

In the beginning, paladins are much better than warriors. Towards the end, the warrior is a must and the paladin becomes a "Well, it'd be nice to have another rezzer..."

Look at it this way, if a Paladin specs himself crazy to have AoEs and high threat stuff, he can be a tank. A warrior just doing the training they have available for a few silver can do much the same. ;)
