View Full Version : Limited vehicles in Caverns

I think this is a nice change.

In order to focus the caverns on outdoor Infantry battles, we are considering limiting access to certain vehicles in the Core Combat maps.

The following vehicles cannot enter Core Combat:
Lodestar, Galaxy, BFR, Medium Battle Tank, Reaver

The following vehicles cannot be purchased at cavern tech plants:
Lodestar, Galaxy, BFR, Medium Battle Tank, Reaver, Sunderer

This is being considered as a means to give the caverns a distinctively different feel from the battles on the surface, requiring players to use the close spaces and tiered environment from the perspective of a foot soldier. Limiting vehicular combat within these areas will help to further that goal, while still allowing for some smaller scale mobile skirmishes.

While the Sunderer would not be attainable in the cavern, it can be driven in to allow for a large squad transport from the surface.

I like that idea :)

I don't think I've ever seen a loadstar, galaxy, or sundy in the caves though. But I also decided after last night Im not driving a mag in there anymore too many stupid people in a small space isn't good for the grief.

Make for some good fights down there :).

I would like to see a Squad do an attack with Threshers down there.

I agree about the idea of limiting the vehicles allowed in the caves since they are intended to be an urban environment.

I think it would be cool to have NO vehicals in the caverns that way there would be somewhere with pure infintry fights.

but this works to.

Reading over the posts on the PS threads and thinking about it myself, it attually makes sense in preventing the heavy vehicles from going into the caves.

The caves are basicly off road, rocky, and steep terrain that buggies are designed to handle. The heavy vehicles are disigned for more leveled terrain and man made paths.

The Deli, at least in my mind, is a heavy buggie in the sense that it has the mobility of the other buggies but still has more amor and fire power (this statement also includes variants). I don't agree on the fact that the Liberator is not on the list. The Lib is designed to counter heavy armor and large groups of infintry but if the inf don't have the heavy armor to support them then there shouldn't be something that can mass kill them that easily.

The limiting of the heavy vehicles also brings about the use of the ATV's. The Fury can be used to take out any vehicle that can go down there (with the limitation in place). The Basilisk can handle the Infintry and lightly armored vehicles. Just having a couple of Basilisk spawn camping an enemy AMS while another couple of Furys can work on destroying the AMS.

This action will almost garentee mass complaining on the PS forum about nerfing team work and how thats what they should be working on. But in fact this could lead to the most extensive team work ever seen through the use of the One and Two man light vehicles.
